Post Holiday Fitness Tips

Do you ever come back off holiday and still have those holiday vibes, where you're back at home and you should be jumping straight back into your routine but instead you delay reality and act as if you're still on vacay?

Yup I'm guilty of it and most probably if you're reading this you can relate. You land back home at the weekend and because its the weekend you're in denial that your holiday has ended and so you decide to go out for a big breakfast, hit brunch and then order a takeaway on the way home (cos brunch wasn't enough)- holiday mode still in full swing.

The solution?

Jump straight back into your fitness routine and use the weekend to get back on meal prepping. If you land back mid week then don't be so hard on yourself, no doubt your body is tired and needs to recover from your holiday antics, work will slap you in the face and exercising is probably the last thing on your mind so use this time to focus on what you're feeding your body.

Dragging yourself to the gym with your wee holiday gut may seem like a mammoth task, so instead why not hit up a friend for a early morning run along the beach, around the park or on the track. Take a road trip somewhere that offers outdoor activities, for all my fellow Dubai'ers get yourself to Hatta or Abu Dhabi and go kayaking- one of my favourite activities which is such a great workout for your back, shoulders, arms and core and great for your cardiovascular fitness.

Do anything that gets you moving and out of your post holiday blues slump.

If you've been on an active holiday- I know when we got back from Bali we felt like we needed another holiday because we were constantly on the go and active everyday- then use the following days to just rest and eat well. If you have a dog use this time to spoil them and take them on a nice long walk, even after two weeks of constant running around in doggy boarding our little Jack Russell still has the energy to go for a walk- use this as active recovery.

Cook meals that you can double up, my favourite go to bulk meals are things like chilli con carne, thai green curry and beef tagine- anything that requires you chucking in a load of meat and a load of veg, simple yet delicious.

If you pay for a gym membership or something like GuavaPass then let the fact you're paying for something be motivation enough. The next day we were back from holiday we booked straight onto our favourite spin class and felt much better after it- once you have your initial post holiday workout in the bag then its easy.

Please let me know your favourite ways to get back into your health and fitness routine post holiday!

Lotsa Love,

Rosie
